At Maine Street Coons, every cat in our home receives consistent, age-appropriate veterinary care throughout life—not just the cats currently breeding or the kittens preparing to leave.

In addition to a comprehensive health screening protocol for breeding cats, we maintain routine wellness care and vaccinations, monitor and address dental health, and provide annual senior bloodwork for cats beginning at age seven.

Every cat in our household is actively insured, so cost never delays appropriate care, and we feed a premium Royal Canin diet selected for each cat's age and stage of life.

The result is a healthier breeding population, a healthier home environment, and the strongest possible start for every kitten born here.

Our breeding cats are DNA tested for inherited conditions relevant to the Maine Coon breed, including HCM, PKD, SMA, and PkDef, helping us make informed breeding decisions and reduce avoidable genetic risk. 

Every breeding cat receives an annual cardiac ultrasound performed to screen for structural heart disease, including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — one of the most important health concerns in Maine Coons.

Our breeding cats undergo radiographic hip evaluation to screen for hip dysplasia and help us make breeding decisions that support sound structure and long-term mobility.

Every breeding cat is tested annually, at their annual health exam, for FIV and FeLV, helping us protect the health of our breeding population and the kittens raised within our home.
